We've had a restful week in the sunshine and are enjoying the fact the summer feels like it has really arrived. The bluebells are busy growing bulging seeds after their glorious blooms and the tree canopy feels fresh, bright and full, with glimpses of blue skies behind.

We had a full week not working but spent much of it in the woods and connected with nature. The woods played host to some fantastic celebrations of friends marking their half centuries. What a fantastic pleasure it was to see many of our favourite people, all in our favourite woodland, together again after what feels like an age, having a pretty fabulous time. The woodland backdrop was perfect for fun and frivolities and was a delight after darkness with fires and sparkling hanging decorations. We cooked, we laughed, we gathered, we played, we danced, we connected.

We planted two more Oaks grown from the land as birthday gifts and made birthday wishes and thoughts in the newly planted woodland space. Then together we mulched some of the existing trees, to support their water retention, suppress the competing grasses and nurture their development.

And after that we needed a rest. So we headed off in vans, in different directions to the seaside and the mountains of Wales. There were fossils, fish, family, friends and restful times. What a perfect way to start our summer days and nights.
