A Joyful Start to Autumn Season at Sawpit Woods - Autumn Events 2026

We had a beautiful gathering in the September sunshine to mark Mabon,  the midpoint between summer and winter solstice, and kick-off our season of events at Sawpit Woods. Thank you to all of you who came.

After a lovely welcome in the circle, one of our younger generation, Maeve, shared an apple poem by June Crebbin (watch a lovely reading here), groups scattered off across the woods.

One merry band got busy building a new support structure for our bridge over the little stream to the woodworking area. Sawhorses, mallets and hazel were all in hand for young and old.

Meanwhile, apple printing was enjoyed by the youngest members of our community. And as many of the children ran off and played, a group of adults managed to get stuck in for a good session of basket building and willow weaving. A slow pace but a lovely busy feel.

We welcomed a brilliant mix of new and regular faces aged from 2 to 80. Including two three generation families, and two visitors all the way from Virginia, USA.

We have a gorgeous schedule of events coming up through the autumn - monthly gatherings to do more or the same ; spending time together with the woods and each other. Take a look and book now here.

Thank you to everyone who joined us this weekend. It was so gorgeous to be back in the woods with everyone, and we're looking forward to gathering everyone over the coming months.
